[manjaro-dev] help reporting a kernel bug badly needed

hi all
I've just reinstalled sonar onto my wife's pc today. After a round of
updates it refused to boot, displaying a screenful of text I couldn't
read, so I reinstalled. It was quick and painless, I can't tell you how
many times that has saved my bacon, you guys deserve a ton of credit.
It'll be even better once calamares is accessible. But anyway, I have a
very odd bug that I'd like to report to the kernel folks but I'm not on
their mailing lists. To tell you the truth, all I've heard about the
amount of knowledge you're expected to have before reporting a bug I'm a
little too intimidated to join up. So I've created a system report from
mellisa's windows 7 install which has all the hardware details and I'll
attach it hear, compressed since it's a couple of megabytes. However
it's a mid 2008 toshiba sattelite l355 laptop, with 4 gb of ram
(originally 3.0), an intel xpress 4 series chipset integrated graphics,
an atheros wireless card, a realtek ethernet card, and an intel sound
card. The problem is that the system won't recognize that the charger
has been plugged in or unplugged until you put the laptop to sleep and
then awaken it. What I mean by "recognize" is that the desktop
environment won't dim the screen or play the sound, and there are no
kernel messages saying it has recognized it so I'm "assuming" it's not
seeing it. Would someone mind reporting this to the kernel folks and
helping me get this fixed? I'm running kernel version 4.6.7, I can
gladly provide a list of kernel modules on request, and I'll do my best
to get any other info they need. This has happened on every single
kernel I've ever booted on this machine apart from windows. Help greatly
appreciated.
Thanks
Kendell Clark
