Hi Kendell.

Since that laptop in question is rather old it might have
problems with latest kernels. That's the reason why Manjaro offers
the choice of older ones. Also it is possible that the computer
needs a BIOS update.
In any case, once you have install Manjaro, try changing the
kernel with **manjaro-settings-manager** to a older one. Maybe
**linux44** will be fine already, or try 41 or even 318. You can
also do that easily in the terminal with **mhwd-kernel**.

In general at the moment it is recommended to use 44 as the
newest LTS kernel. The next one has been announced to be
**linux49** which is not even available, yet, of course ;)

Just remember: The kernel setting for you ISOs is now in your
**manjaro-tools.conf**, not in the **profile.conf**, as it used to
be in earlier versions of **manjaro-tools**.

kind regards
Bernhard
Oh wow, 4.6.7 was the last one of that version? hmm. What's the newest
lts one I can install into sonar? It looks like I'll need to change the
kernel version used in the profile.conf files. But basically, all that's
supposed to happen is when you unplug the AC adaptor, the screen dims
and a sound plays. When you plug it back in, the screen brightens and a
sound plays. The sound playing isn't the kernel's job of course, nor is
the screen dimming, that's the desktop's teritory but the desktop asks
the kernel whether the battery is charging or discharging before
deciding what to do. I'm not absolutely positive it's a kernel issue but
I'm pretty sure, since that works on all of my other computers hear
except this one.
Thanks

Well, I'll never do that again. I had no idea that system report from
windows would give you guys so much useless info. Oh well, if it gets
the kernel bug solved it was worth it. I just hope I didn't cause any
problems with my attachment.
Thanks

Hi Kendell,
what is the exact issue in few words. What do you expect from the system
and what do you get which is odd? Also the kernel 4.6.7 was the last
kind of that series. No bugfixing will happen to that one. Which other
kernels did you tried so far?
