        <div class="moz-cite-prefix"><big>Hi Philip<br>
            <br>
            I am using this Manjaro Linux installation as a digital
            audio workstation. I started with
            KaoS-kf5-2015.01.14-x86_64.iso and have kept the system up
            to date using the "system upgrade" function in Octopi.<br>
            <br>
            I needed to create and / or modify the following files:<br>
            /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf<br>
            /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/99-local.rules<br>
            /etc/security/limits.d/99-audio.conf<br>
            /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/40-hpet-permissions.rules<br>
            /etc/default/cpupower<br>
            <br>
            I can give the exact details if anyone is interested... <br>
            <br>
            The system must be booted with the kernel parameter
            "threadirqs" ( edit /etc/default/grub and run grub-mkconfig)<br>
            <br>
            I implemented a special version of RTCTL to prioritise the
            rtc and firewire irqs. (See <a moz-do-not-send="true"
              class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
              href="https://github.com/quietpinguin/RTCTL">https://github.com/quietpinguin/RTCTL</a>)<br>
            <br>
            I backported snd-firewire-improve alsa modules. (See <a
              moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
              href="https://github.com/takaswie/snd-firewire-improve">https://github.com/takaswie/snd-firewire-improve</a>)<br>
            <br>
            And naturally added my user to the audio group.<br>
            <br>
            For the first time in 17 years of using Linux, I am able to
            record for hours on end (from a Focusrite Saffire PRO 24
            firewire  audio interface) and never have an XRUN when
            recording - this is impressive. The Manjaro Linux
            installation just works and the sound quality is just
            superb.<br>
            <br>
            There is just the one niggling little problem: Since
            08.02.2015 the Octopi "system upgrade" function fails -
            kdepimlibs is being pulled in as an (unwanted) dependency
            and conflicts with kdepimlibs-frameworks.<br>
            <br>
            My understandin is that the "KDE Applications" from version
            14.12.x are designed to work with kf5. (See <a
              moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE_Software_Compilation#Post-fourth_series">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE_Software_Compilation#Post-fourth_series</a>
            for definition of KDE Applications.) <br>
            <br>
            You will probably have good reasons for re-basing
            kdebase-runtime against KDE SC 4  but this would break my
            installation.<br>
            <br>
            I can only trust that the Manjaro Team will sort this out in
            the end.<br>
            <br>
            For the record, the repos I am using are:<br>
